Dissertations for Good
NUS’ For Good platform has been created to empower students to innovate and progress environmental and ethical sustainability through meaningful research, projects and placements.
For Good offerings give students opportunities to gain experience and knowledge of working in a variety of sectors to gain important employability skills and develop competencies as responsible citizens. Bespoke research, projects and placements ensure organisations benefit from capacity building, bright ideas and creative solutions for progressing sustainability challenges.
A research or dissertation for good is any piece of student-led research-based work that contributes in a tangible way to the student’s partnered organisation.
How does it work?
Students and organisations register and create profiles, then search through the database to find their perfect partner. NUS helps you set up a successful partnership in order to complete a project together. It’s as simple as that!
Prior to starting any piece of research, students and partner organisations have a number of meetings to agree on research intentions, methods and final outputs.
The research/dissertations and projects areas of the NUS For Good website are entirely free for all students to use.

What is the NUS?
The National Union of Students is a confederation of 600 Students’ Unions (of which UCA Students’ Union is a part of), amounting to more than 95% of all higher and further education unions in the UK. NUS champions students to shape education and create a fairer and more prosperous society for everyone. Sustainability is a huge part of that.
We know that 80 per cent of students want their institution to be doing more on sustainability, and 60 per cent want to learn more about it. Despite the rise in tuition fees and the crash in the jobs market, these figures have stayed the same. This is an issue which students deeply care about.
Working across campuses, curriculums and communities, we help all students to leave their time in education as part of the solution to our social, economic and environmental problems.
