Conflict in Ukraine Statement

UCASU release this statement regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. We want to encourage our student community to reach out to your local MPs and lobby the UK government. Read on to learn more about the support available to those impacted.

Our thoughts are with all who are affected by the crisis in Ukraine, this includes students from both Russia and Ukraine and students from neighbouring countries.

Your Students’ Union is here to support you in every way we can. We encourage anyone that has been impacted by the military action to reach out to us and/or UCA for support services.

  • Our Advice & Wellbeing Coordinator Lucy Twilley can be contacted by email at You can book an appointment to meet with her, or you will find Lucy on the Epsom campus most days of the week.

We want to encourage our student community to reach out to your local MPs and lobby the UK government. As of right now, the UK government requires a visa for anyone leaving Ukraine and hoping to enter England. We must challenge how the government supports Ukrainian citizens and refugees. The Students’ Union supports safe passage for those fleeing Ukraine and entering the UK.

Another way to support Ukraine is to donate your time, funds, and/or resources. We recommend fact-checking all donation sites as there are those that wish to use times like these for their own gain.
