It is with regret that we have to announce that our By-Election and Referendum vote will be postponed until 9am, 13 January - 5pm 14 January.
As you may have seen over the last few days, we have experienced a number of issues with students being unable to vote, not receiving emails with links to the voting site, and being unable to register to vote. As you may have seen for previous elections, we normally conduct a paper ballot vote in person on every campus. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year we decided to use an outside company with expertise in student elections to run the vote online. Unfortunately, the system has not worked as intended.
At the core of everything the Students' Union does is you, the students. We're here to represent you, to work for you, and to ensure that your voice is heard. We have made many attempts over the last 30 hours to rectify the technical issues, but we now know we cannot guarantee that every student will be able to vote, and so the election can no longer go ahead.
This election will now take place in January, and we encourage everyone take part. These elections and referendum have big implications on the Union, and on your experience at UCA. Parties on either side of the referendum will continue to campaign until voting day. We apologise to all the nominees for Campus Executive Officer and NUS Delegate who have campaigned hard already. Their manifestos will still be available on our Elections page until voting opens again in January.
