Job overview

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Designer to join our team. This role will include creating designs according to specifications and following written creative briefs received from the Marketing & Communications Coordinator and wider UCASU team. 

The Junior Designer will be responsible for the delivery of marketing and communications assets through the creation of graphic materials for digital or print distribution. We are looking for someone who can create imaginative designs, assist the team with concepts for creative visual approaches to communication, follow brand guidelines, and ensure high levels of attention to detail in all output.

Requirements

  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign are a must, experience with other Adobe Creative Cloud software is a plus. 

  • Ability to meet deadlines set by the Marketing & Communications Coordinator whilst completing work to a high standard.

  • A collaborative approach to work with the ability to work independently when required.

  • The motivation to maintain and improve design standards.

  • The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve.

  • High levels of organisational skills and good creative practice to ensure that files are kept to a naming system and appropriately filed.

 

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  • To provide graphic design support to UCASU.

  • Timely delivery of assets and materials as required to meet deadlines of briefs.

  • To provide assets and materials appropriate to the application of marketing.

  • Adhere to confidentiality and data protection regulations.

  • To contribute to the creative planning of large Union-wide projects such as elections.

  • Other duties appropriate to the role and commensurate with the level of remuneration, at the discretion of your line manager or person with appropriate seniority in the Students’ Union.
