UCA Students’ Union are outraged and deeply saddened to witness the recent violent acts of racism and Islamophobia taking place across the country. We at UCASU strongly condemn this behaviour.

These acts of far-right terrorism are targeting black and brown people - Muslims in particular. It is important to recognise that these are NOT isolated incidents, but the outcome of a growing and dangerous narrative that normalises the far-right racist ideologies.

We take pride in our diverse and vibrant campus communities at UCA, and we stand in solidarity with the migrants, racialised and Muslim communities that have faced the racist violence in the last week.

We are aware of the anti-immigration demonstrations taking place close to our campuses, as well as in a large number of areas throughout the country. These demonstrations are likely to be violent against black and brown people. Please keep safe, avoid travelling alone, and check in on your friends and family.
