We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kyley Winfield as the new Chief Executive Officer of the University for the Creative Arts Students' Union (UCASU).

Kyley joins us with over 20 years of experience in governance, creative industries, and education. His impressive background includes significant achievements in leadership roles, most recently as Head of Accredited Programmes at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

On his appointment, Kyley shared:

"I am excited to be joining this vibrant organisation as Chief Executive Officer and serving the University of the Creative Arts students.

As someone who is neurodivergent, I have deeply appreciated the thoughtful and inclusive recruitment process, which highlights the organisation's strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion—values I am deeply passionate about and committed to.

I am looking forward to collaborating with the talented staff, student leaders, and University colleagues to continue cultivating an empathetic, inclusive community and sustainably developing the Union's commercial aspects. Meeting the students who will continue to shape and guide the future of the Union is something I am particularly excited about.

Together, we will build on the organisation's great work, ensuring every student has the opportunity to feel empowered, valued, and equipped to thrive in both their academic and personal journeys."

The University have been closely involved with the recruitment process and Kyley's appointment has been met with great enthusiasm. Sarah Clark, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Student Experience), commented:

"We are delighted to welcome Kyley Winfield to the University for the Creative Arts as the Chief Executive Officer for our Student Union.

The University shares a very special relationship with the Students' Union and has been closely involved in the SU Turnaround process.

I greatly look forward to working with Kyley and all members of the SU as we continue to work together to ensure our students are well supported to achieve their dreams and ambitions as well as being an active part of our creative community."

Martin Dodd, External Trustee and Deputy Chair of the Trustee Board, expressed the Board's excitement:

"The appointment of Kyley Winfield as CEO marks an exciting new chapter for UCASU. His impressive background in governance, strategic planning, and inclusive leadership will be invaluable as we work to strengthen our union and enhance the student experience. Kyley's passion for creating empowering environments for all students, particularly those facing barriers, resonates strongly with our mission. We look forward to the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas he will bring to our organisation."

Cassie de St. Croix, President (Canterbury) and Chair of the Trustee Board, added:

"We are thrilled to welcome Kyley Winfield as our new CEO. His extensive experience in the creative and educational sectors, coupled with his commitment to inclusivity and student empowerment, aligns perfectly with our vision for UCASU. Kyley's innovative approach and proven track record make him an ideal leader to guide our union forward. We're confident that under his leadership, UCASU will continue to grow and better serve our diverse student community."

His experience as an Associate Fellow of The Higher Education Academy and his commitment to creating inclusive learning environments align closely with UCASU's values and goals.
