From social media to event marketing, and all things in-between...
Unless you've been living under a rock, you might have seen that myself and Gian have taken over UCASU’s social media pages! From Vote-o-saurus to making the Workshop Manager a star, we've been busy as Student Marketing Volunteers for UCASU! These last six weeks have been one of the best experiences for my career in Digital Marketing. I’ve gained experience in branding, how to put together a social media strategy and essential scheduling tools. I’ve also loved showing off my content ideas for videos and improving my video editing skills! Some content ideas that I came up with included content for the Elections, some general ideas and some content for the Spring Markets. I also practiced my copywriting and graphic design skills in a post about National Nutrition Month and Spring Market FAQs, which also went into the Weekly What’s On Newsletters!
To prepare for the Spring Markets, I wrote a Spring Market marketing event plan, proposing what content to film, how to engage students and what content to post after the event. This gave me an insight into how events are promoted, managed and planned, which is essential for making events exciting! To spice up the Epsom Spring Market, I came up with the idea to hide eggs around campus, containing raffle tickets to be redeemed for prizes at the market. In addition, I filmed a video of me hiding the eggs around campus, to give students clues as to where they might be. Luckily all the prizes were collected and I believe that it encouraged more students to come to the Spring Market!
To wrap up my internship, I did an overall social media analytics analysis over six weeks, comparing key insights such as reach, interactions, and follows. Doing this allowed me to visually see how I helped to grow UCASU’s social media accounts. To sum it all up, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as Student Marketing Volunteer for UCASU, and I’ve learnt so many valuable skills for my career as a Digital Marketer.
Thank you for all your engagement over the last six weeks! I have to give a special thanks to Robyn for making this possible and Gian for making this experience even better! I can’t wait for what’s to come!
