Do you like debating? Do you think cats are better than dogs? Do you want your opinions heard?
The Debate Society hosts weekly debate sessions every Thursday in the Cragg Lecture Theatre, also including occasional events such as game shows or social nights!
Debating gives you the opportunity to develop your critical thinking and communication skills, within this society we will debate from topics such as "Does free will exist?" to less serious ones such as "Does pineapple belong on pizza?". Students, staff and attendees have the option to vote or propose debate questions for later sessions giving you direct interaction with the society!
Political debates are strictly not allowed (For obvious reasons) however we will include topics such as philosophy, theology, social or ethical questions. We encourage an environment of fair and friendly discussion, allowing attendees to voice their opinions and concerns so please be mindful with what you say!
This is also your chance to debate current issues with the university or student union, your voices matters!!!
