WHAT IS COMMUNITIES?

Communities is the social and cultural heart of your campus. There are two sides to it – Community Groups and Community Events

COMMUNITY GROUPS
These are groups that have been set up and run by students, that anyone is welcome to join. You might join a Community where you can share creative interests like life drawing or creating writing; or a Community where you meet and campaign with people who share your identity such as LGBTQ+ and BAME Communities. You may take part in a sport or gaming group, or a green Community that takes sustainable action on campus. These Communities will then meet regularly, so you can grow your hobbies, skills, and friendships throughout the year.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Community events are run by the Union, for you! We set up markets and creative events, run activities for History Months, host big campus socials, celebrate cultural holidays, and more. These Community events will always be free or cheap to attend, so you can make the most of your time at UCA.

HOW CAN I START A COMMUNITY?

All you really need to start a new Community is an idea, a name, and the enthusiasm to get started. It helps if you have a friend or two who wants to run things with you. If you have ay questions or issues with this page, please contact the Communities Coordinator at amethyst.reardon.su@uca.ac.uk
