Happy 2026 everyone! I hope everyone's final projects are coming along swimmingly and that you are all also remembering to rest yourselves.
This Winter has been a fun one, with the tree going up in lights, hot chocolate being shared, and everyones festive jumpers having a lot of winter flare. So far something amazing that has happened is we had our yearly elections, and despite the incredibly difficult circumstances that were faced, we managed to not only have the highest percentage of voting in our very own Canterbury Campus; we also managed to be a huge contribution to the highest UCASU turnout so far! That is by no means an easy feat and I am so happy with how involved everyone was.
Something else that is also incredibly impressive is our course rep engagement! Over the past few months we have held meetings with those students that represent everyone in their course and we have consistently had a high turnout, with that same bunch all providing incredibly useful feedback as to what issues they and their peers are facing in their courses. So far we have had a look at the way services are communicated to everyone, we've worked to install material bins, and are in the process of working out a locker system for people to use.
Over the Winter Holiday, we also held an art competition for student artwork to be displayed in the Nook with the use of a mini 'brief'. A huge thank you to those that participated and there may be more opportunities to have your work displayed in the future, so keep your eyes open.
Now in this stretch to the end of the year, look forward to the grad show, keep working hard, and good luck on all of your work!
