THE SOCIAL (FESTIVAL), MAIDSTONE FRESHERS

THE SOCIAL www.thesocialfestival.com

Just stumbled across this little gem on my world wind adventure through cyberspace. I’ve been looking at what we can get up to on our return to Maidstone in September.

There are two events happening, the big party is on Saturday featuring Andrea Olivia, Carl Craig, Dixon, Guti, Guy Gerber, Hector, Loco Dice and more.

The Sunday, called ‘The Family Social’, has live music from Earth Wind and Fire Experience ft. Al McKay, Sister Sledge, The Shapeshifters, Brand New Heavies alongside a food village, market, art exhibitions and FREE funfair rides.

You can grab your tickets and read more about the event at: www.thesocialfestival.com

The weekend has been developed by Saved Records which has established itself as a highly successful, safe events coordinator in Kent.

PARTICIPATION

I’m sending an inquiry to ask about what opportunities that UCA students could have during the weekend, when I read that there will be art exhibitions I just had to ask.

FRESHERS WEEK, lets ‘ave a barbie!

As you know, we have a dwindling population on the Oakwood site, but don’t fear, have a beer (apologies for my irresponsible rhyming pun).

I’m meeting up with a couple of the club nights around the town this week, cooperating with Rochester Campus Officer Jasmin to explore the possibility of joining there freshers’ week events. The Rochester Freshers’ Fair is on Monday the 30th September so if anyone fancies hopping on the 101 bus from Chequers Bus Station to Chatham with me for a few quid then we could make a day of it.

Currently liaising with Amanda from campus catering about sorting out a welcome back BBQ. We had a quick discussion about it being UCA exclusive, lighting the barbie up ready for 4pm (so not to disrupt the busy lunch period and your studio time) and FREE (hopefully)after I hunt down some funding.

All the best, David Lewis
