Job Description

Reports to:
Deputy Chief Executive (Membership Engagement)

Job Purpose

  • Build a self-sustaining community of students that is interested and up-to-date with Membership Engagement activities
  • Make engaging, creative content for social media, to increase the visibility of Membership Engagement activities
  • Engage with students in person to encourage participation in activities, and gather feedback
  • Complete any other tasks that support the success of the Membership Engagement department, as required

Responsibilities

  1. Build a self-sustaining community of students that is interested and up-to-date with Membership Engagement activities
    – Regularly check on posts on our channels, replying to comments and answering queries
    – Be a friendly and recognisable face on our channels, building a rapport with students
  2. Make engaging, creative content for social media, to increase the visibility of Membership Engagement activities
    – Create interactive content such as polls, competitions, videos, etc
    – Liaise with Marketing and Brand Manager about deadlines and event dates, so the most current information is always prioritised on our channels
    – Create content that highlights successful events and activities
    – Consider which content is successful on which platform so you can establish a standard of how/when to interact with students across our channels
  3. Engage with students in person to encourage participation in activities, and gather feedback
    – Proactively advertise upcoming Membership Engagement activities or campaigns on campus
    – Work with the Union Development Manager to gather feedback related to Membership Engagement activities
  4. Complete any other tasks that support the success of the Membership Engagement department, as required

Hours
Up to 7 hours per week. Working pattern negotiable


PERSON SPECIFICATION

We’re looking for a UCA student who:

  • Can use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (ideally TikTok or Snapchat as well)
  • Knows current social media trends
  • Is comfortable chatting to new people and building friendly relationships
  • Wants to help build the profile of UCASU’s activities
  • Has creative ideas for how to get students interested in what we do
