FROM 1 JULY 2016, THE UNION HAS A NEW BRAND
Following comprehensive student consultation, we have finalised a new visual identity for the Union. Allow us to introduce you…
THE NEW LOOK LOGO AND COLOUR OPTIONS
Primarily we’ll be using the green, but pink and grey will be making an appearance when appropriate.
Around campus, you’re probably more likely to see the U icon more than the full version with the name. This icon is extremely versatile and will be used with graphics or moving image inside the circle. Examples of graphic usage are shown.
UxYOU (pronounced ‘U by You’) is the name we’re giving to when students make their own version of the U icon. We’ll see how the name sticks! Students are able to insert their own artwork into the area around the U and send it to us, just like any of the examples…
All artwork copyright of their respective owners.
Ready? MAKE YOUR OWN UxYOU!
We will also use colours to represent the Union’s work on each campus. You’ll see these on campus-specific identities like social media avatars, reports, and event promotion.
The fonts we use have been carefully selected to suit the Union’s new visual personality.
For headlines, headers, titles, and calls to action, we use the Lulo Clean family of fonts by Yellow Design Studio. This is primarily Lulo Clean One Bold, but you’ll also see Lulo Clean One and Lulo Clean One Outline when we need something to stand out but not compete the other information.
When it comes to sub-headings and other non-body uses, we use the PMN Caecilia family of fonts by Peter Matthias Noordzij. This serif has a distinctively different look to Lulo Clean so can be visually separated when moving through information.
For web copy and emails, we’ll continue to use Arial as it is easier to read on screen than PMN Caecilia or other serifs. UCA has an above-average number of dyslexic students so we want to make sure our content is as accessible as possible.
