UCA Students Union as a member of NUS (National Union of Students) is able to elect a delegate to attend NUS national conference.

This year’s National Conference will be held in Brighton between Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st April.

NUS (National Union of Students) is a confederation of 600 students’ unions, which is more than 95 per cent of all higher and further education unions in the UK, which means NUS represent the interests of more than seven million students.

National conference:

  • Sets policy for the year ahead in each of the 5 zones (Society & Citizienship, Higher Education, Further Education, Welfare and Union Development);
  • Elects NUS President, Vice Presidents and Block of 15 representatives on the NUS National Executive Council; and
  • Decides the NUS budget for the year ahead.

Every year over 1,500 delegates arrive at the conference from institutions across the United Kingdom.
Two of these delegates will be from UCA as elected in the elections in March.
One of the UCA delegate positions is reserved for a woman.
