STUDENT EXPERIENCE OFFICER
POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 3 // CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR THIS POSITION: 1
PROPOSED BY: CHARLOTTE BUCKNOLE / SECONDED BY: MARIAM NAVABPOUR
My name is Jayne Christie. I’m currently a first year Fashion Promotion student, and I’m running for the position of Students Experience Officer.
I moved here in September after almost ten years of living abroad, staying in countries such as Japan, Poland, Slovakia, Thailand, and Portugal. Through traveling so much, I’ve had the opportunity to attend my fair share of schools, allowing me to see what works and what doesn’t. It has also made it easy for me to adapt to new situations, and communicate with groups of people.
I’ve been a part of event and social organization in each of my schools. Whether that meant being on the student council, or the organization of events such as dance socials, charity events, and graduation.
I’m running for this position due to the fact that I feel as a campus, we are missing out on a very important part of the University experience. There are very little social opportunities given to us as a chance to meet others from across all courses and years. This is something that when speaking to others from different universities, is a central part of their social networking.
As a creative arts university we have so much potential to run some exciting and unique events and socials, and I hope this is something I could work to develop if I was elected. I hope to be able to help with promotion and events already organized by the Student Council, but also look to create new socials and opportunities to suit all of the different groups that we have on campus; whether that be a pub quiz, food nights, or open-mic, to name a few. Although I do have ideas about some possibilities, I am also really keen to find out what kind of things you want to organize and what you need to make your University experience the best it can be.
Overall, I’m a hard working individual with the passion and determination to do the best job I possibly can as Student Experience Officer. It is my goal for the year to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to have the feeling of a proper social University life. So remember, you’re not just voting for me, but for the experience.
