ROCHESTER WOMENS OFFICER CANDIDATES
KAYLEIGH ANDERSON[VIEW CANDIDATE PAGE]
I’m 19 and extremely interested in the creative sector. Though I want to specialize in Animation I see worth in all other ares in art too. I’m a feminist and feel that women should be treated equally to men. I’m outgoing and friendly and have the ability to listen well and discuss topic with my fellow students. I’m also very organised and work very hard to achieve success.
IF ELECTED, HOW WOULD YOU CREATE MORE OF A COMMUNITY?
I think that social media would play a big part in a strong student community, at UCA we already have some pages set up on Facebook and Twitter, I think it would be in our best interest to keep working on these and expand our social media if possible. Social media is the best way to keep in contact in this modern age but not everyone has an account. We also have a duty to these other students and I think making as much information as possible on other sources such as My UCA or ucreative accounts is also a must. As for at the Campus itself I think more clubs and social events would help build a stronger community as not very many clubs are actually available on campus. We could also plan social events with the other Campuses and mingle more as a community.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS?
If I was chosen to be the womens’ officer I’d like also work with other officers to ensure that women on campus were getting the most out of their time at UCA. I’d like for more opportunities for the women on campus to socialise and meet more people outside their course, these social events could turn into successful collaborations which would help students do well even after they’ve left UCA. I’d also want more opportunities to be made available to get help with issues that still effect women and I’d like to educate and inform people of these issues to stop any sexism that could possibly happen on our campus.
HOW WOULD YOU INSPIRE STUDENTS TO HAVE A VOICE?
If I was chosen to be womens’ officer I’d be a strong voice for the women of our campus. I’d promote equality not only between the genders but also make sure women of colour and trans women felt like they were being treated equally on campus. I’d encourage women to be confident and proud of themselves and voice their opinions often, I’d listen to them and make sure their voice is heard. I’d inspire students to work together and work hard to get the best experience possible at UCA. I’d also want to ensure the officers on campus were working together to create the best student experience for all the students.
