JOEL GOLDMAN – NUS DELEGATE CANDIDATE[OTHER NUS DELEGATE CANDIDATES: GEORGE BRABHAM | WIDAD ‘DODI’ KAZMA]
Hi, my name is Joel Goldman and I am currently the Campus Officer for Farnham. I am running for the position of NUS Delegate because I believe I have the experience and passion to represent UCA students at National Conference.
IF ELECTED, HOW WOULD YOU CREATE MORE OF A COMMUNITY?
As an active member of the student’s union I already have strong connections to students and a good understanding of the student body and the needs of the student community. If elected to the position of NUS Delegate I would utilise my knowledge to fight and make sure that the voice of the UCA student community is heard nationally.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS?
It’s never been tougher to be a student, as we face increasing study costs, accommodation fees that have doubled in a decade, massive travel and living costs, and a lack of employment and academic opportunities after our degrees. But I am a firm believer we can make a change and I would like to be the one to instigate that change. If elected as NUS Delegate I would us my wide range of knowledge in student politics, and would take seriously the opportunity to influence decisions on a national scale and create better opportunities for UCA students.
HOW WOULD YOU INSPIRE STUDENTS TO HAVE A VOICE?
I believe the voice of the students is essential in everything we do and should be taken seriously by not just NUS, but the national government and wider society. I have the knowledge, experience, and passion to represent you, the students on issues such as the the cost of student life, gender and race equality, and getting more students involved in politics and activism.
