What is student council?

The student council discusses issues or problems that students have in particular relation to the Student Union; the Council also sets the agenda for the Union’s Executive Committee. Every student who is a member of the union can propose a motion on an issue they feel is important. The student council discusses these motions and votes whether to pass the motion, an action is generated from a passed motion which is fully enacted upon.

Who sits on the council?

Each campus has a student council which is chaired by the sabbatical officer of that campus. Each council must meet a minimum of twice per academic term. There are 12 elected student councillors who sit on each council; this consists of 5 student experience councillors and 7 student group councillor who are part-time, voluntary officers. Each elected student councillor sits on the student council for the length of their term in office.

Post grad Student Officer
FE Student Officer
International Student Officer
Students with Disabilities Officer
And 5 student experience officers.
